How did we get here. Now the film itself is something that me and my mates who are all obsessed with James Bond have basically said is structured like a Bond Movie. Griffin at Filmspeak even brought up to me how we get a pre-title action sequence, the title sequence itself, the return to the base for the mission briefing, the mission and then the key characters, some betrayals and a battle in the base/underbelly. Its a story structure thats worked throughout time but I dunno…for as much as I love it when its used in Bond films there’s something about it that feels like episodes of tv just stitched together here. That may be because mando and grogu are tv characters themselves but I feel like you could easily cut the film up into smaller parts and release these as chapters on Disney Plus. Which I dont really feel like you could do with a Bond film. Now for as bad as that sounds the opening pre-title sequence is a banger and I can understand why Disney screened the films first 25 minutes at two different events. You could put this on for anyone and I think theyre gonna have a good time and its a good way to sell the movie. It doesnt really have any character development beyond Mando killing the targer rather than letting them get away which is him basically making a judgement call rather than…rather than adhering to the rules.
